Set against the rolling south downs and located at Charleston, Small Wonder, is an independent literary festival dedicated to short-form story telling that has gained a national reputation as the foremost event in its field. Following a competitive pitch, we were asked to undertake a substantial rebrand of the festival’s visual identity that would dovetail with the Charleston master brand.
We created a logotype and visual language that referred to the bucolic location and the hand-made artistic style the venue is famed for and reflected in the Charleston identity. Interweaving contours evoke the rolling hills and a simple, timeless wordmarque have given the identity an appeal which aligns to the core brand while retaining relevance, recognition and individuality.
The new identity has given Small Wonder a wider appeal than its previous remit, allowing a younger audience to be successfully targeted for the 2016 event.
